My earliest experience as an architectural draftsman and technical illustrator has always gone hand in hand with my painting and illustration skills...  On many television shows and lower budget features, this has worked out well in that I could provide simple plan and elevation views of my designs for construction to build from.  In some cases, art departments have been able to build directly from my illustrations, when set designers weren't available.

Below is a very small sampling of work in a variety of mediums.  Some older pencil and marker work (old school..!), and more recent work featuring Photoshop collaging and integrated 3D models.  Check out my art direction page featuring sets and designs I've art directed and production designed using other artists, but these are fairly representative of my personal illustration style...
