Hey, we get it... sometimes it's easier (and more entertaining) to just watch a video than click through a bunch of pages or individual videos when you only have 5 minutes.  Well, wait no longer, just click back over to our "What is FS?" page, and viola...  You'll see a few storyboards, a few storyboard / production comparisons, some animatics, a couple of clips of Pitch Reels, and a sampling of visual effects shots, both supervised and completed in-house.  And there's even some drone footage for the rollicking heck of it...  Enjoy!

Nice little interview with "Homecoming" Production Designer Oliver Scholl... I first briefly encountered Oliver 22 years ago on my first gig in LA, "Space: Above and Beyond," when we borrowed him for a week from his prep on "Independence Day" in late '94 to contribute some spaceship designs for our pilot... Took me 21 more years to actually work with him!  Click the pic for the article...

The first full-on trailer for a little teen comedy I storyboarded on last year called "Spider-Man: Homecoming" dropped today!  Lots o' shots from 2 big scenes I boarded, but... I wish they'd held back on showing a few things...Almost too much Spidey goodness... Premieres July 7, 2017!

Finished out the last few months of 2016 back on the Saudi project, now using the first part of 2017 to prep the BIG LAUNCH of the new Flyingsorcery website and Facebook pages...

Currently assembling and cutting 2 new reels:  The Flyingsorcery "what-we-do" reel, and my personal director and whatever-hat-I was-wearing-at-the-moment reel.

Hoping to use the FB page to post all matter of interesting art and production links, not just FS oriented, but covering all interesting matter of art, production, and generally cool visual sciencey-history-y things.  More to come soon!

June/July '16: Back on the Fox lot in LA, doing some storyboard animation for Shane Black's "The Predator." Always enjoy being at Fox, not only did they make all my favorite genre pictures when I was a kid, but it's where I started my LA career back in '94, on "X-Files" and "Space: Above and Beyond." Look for "The Predator" in 2018...

April 2016: In between shifts for UNESCO, spent 2 months back working for Marvel on a little web-slinging action down at Pinewood Studios in Atlanta..."Spider-Man: Homecoming." Storyboarded a number of sequences, including a cinematic version of a classic Spidey comic book cover... Coming Soon!

October 2015: A new Middle Eastern project, this time designing media and directing re-creation shorts for a UNESCO World Heritage Site museum near Riyadh, KSA. Responsibilities included creating visual concepts, video pre-visualizations, and live action re-creation sequence design from treatments and scripts. Also co-director/DP for special projects, including some fun video for the Themed Entertainment Assoc. Awards show..

August 2015: Suddenly a complete change of pace, a return to my documentary shooting days of the past... Was contacted by PAE Pictures of Beijing to see how quickly I could put a camera package together and fly to their new base in Zurich, Switzerland, to prep and shoot the beginning of a larger documentary project that we hoped would eventually take us on a worthwhile humanitarian mission to some politically charged areas of Africa. A whirlwind 3 days in Manhattan to assemble a multi-camera package, led to 3 weeks in St. Moritz and Zurich discussing and prepping a game plan... But as is the case with many documentary projects, the logistics were daunting, and we were forced to hold off till a later date... More on that soon.

Mid 2015: Following the on-line premiere of Herlock, it was back to work! Began working with the Zanuck Company, helping create storyboard animatics with the animation director/creator for a wildly creative and ambitious cross-platform project (on-line media, novels, animated features) of light-hearted, but cautionary fables for all ages. In development, more to come...

Late '14, early '15: Jumped into producing and directing a 4 part, 45 minute internet pilot with writer Lee Shackleford. I'll let the website explain the inspiration for the project, but basically, after a couple of months of cross-country script polish and prep, 8 days of shooting, 6 weeks of post, and $7000, we premiered, "Herlock."  CLICK the PIC above to go to HERLOCK... http://herlock.us/

After 2 years non-stop designing state-of-the-art ride-show media for the Jordanian project, then straight into 6 more months of Creative Consulting for PAE Pictures (Beijing/Zurich) and Mandoo Pictures ("Rock Dog") , I decided to put Flyingsorcery on hold for a while to "pursue some personal projects," as they say. Enter Lee Shackleford, college pal and playwright/screenwriter extraordinaire, with a script for an internet series he'd recently developed after a similar non-stop run of high-profile work... More in the next post...

I started working on a huge international theme park project in June 2012, and as of last January, was promoted to production designer and assistant director on the two ride show projects.  It's been a mentally exhausting 12 months, as the amount of research and design that goes into recreating 6 photo-real ancient civilization environments would tax any regular-sized art department, but our "department" turned out to be me, two illustrators, and for a few months, one researcher.  Thankfully, most of the heavy design work (architecture, props and wardrobe) is nearly done for the first ride show, and

it's on to some mo-cap work and finishing up some design work for the second ride show.  All in all, a rewarding experience, and working with lots of amazingly talented and brilliant people.

UPDATE:  The YouTube "greatest hits" cut of DinoRev is now over 150 Million views! CLICK the PIX to watch...

Discovery Channel is starting to air promos for "Dinosaur Revolution," the huge new scientifically state-of-the-art live-action/CGI 6 hour dinosaur extravaganza I directed nearly 4 hours of last year.  My involvement began almost 3 years ago when I helped pitch the show to Discovery for the production company, "Creative Differences" while I was storyboarding and directing back

plates for a couple of series they were doing for NatGeo and Discovery called "Pre-historic Predators," and "Monsters Resurrected," respectively.

After being away from the project for a year, I was brought back on to sort out a years' worth of storyboards and help make them photographable images.  After several weeks near Eureka, CA in September, fo...
